Dr. Hill organized the Highland Park Medical Task Force for Hurricane Relief, a consortium of physicians to provide pro bono medical care to Katrina victims who relocated to Highland Park and other North Shore and Lake County suburbs. As an executive board member of the Lake County Medical Society, Dr. Hill expanded the Highland Park task force to include more physicians and formed the Lake County Medical Relief Task Force. In addition, Dr. Hill’s band, Dr. Mark and the Sutures, raised money for Katrina relief during a benefit concert in Highland Park’s Port Clinton Square. He also helped organize a student benefit concert for Katrina relief with students from Highland Park High School, and provided his own sound equipment for the performance. Other healthcare-related initiatives include organizing a group to deliver testimony to Highland Park’s mayor and council regarding Smoke-Free Highland Park. The group was successful in making Highland Park the first smoke-free suburb in Lake County. Dr. Hill also acts as medical coordinator for the Resource Center of Highland Park High School in which he helps find appropriate pro bono medical care for students who are uninsured.
