Mount Sinai Department of Medicine Chair Receives Prestigious Award from American College of Physicians
David Ansell, M.D., M.P.H., chair of the Department of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital, Chicago, recently received the Richard and Hilda Rosenthal Foundation Award from the American College of Physicians. This award is given annually to a physician in the United States to recognize exemplary work as a clinician. Dr. Ansell was nominated to receive this award in recognition of his work as a clinician, educator, and investigator in issues of health care access and women’s health at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Dr. Ansell, also vice chair of the Department of Medicine at Chicago Medical School, is a general internist with an active practice and an educator who has won numerous teaching awards. He directs Sinai’s Woman to Woman Program, a free mammography program for women who are uninsured or underinsured. He helped develop the Sinai Urban Health Institute, a social epidemiology unit that has been performing groundbreaking research in health and social disparities in Chicago and the United States.
Dr. Ansell received his medical degree from the State University of New York Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, New York and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Cook County Hospital. He has a Masters in Public Health degree from the University of Illinois.

Christine Winter, M.D., Elected Fellow of American College of Physicians
Christine Winter, M.D., FACP, a member of the medical staff of Hinsdale Hospital, has been elected a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, the society of internists. The distinction recognizes achievements in internal medicine, the specialty of adult medical care.
Dr. Winter was elected upon the recommendation of peers and the review of ACP's Credentials Subcommittee. She may now use the designation "FACP" following her name.
Dr. Winter practices medicine with Hinsdale Hematology-Oncology Association, Ltd. An assistant professor for a university medical school in Chicago, she also has served as a teaching attending for Hinsdale Hospital Family Practice Residency Program since 1988.
She received her undergraduate degree from University College London, and her medical degree from the University College Hospital Medical School, London.

Solucient Names Nancy Pope Nelson as New CEO
Solucient®, a leading provider of strategic business and clinical information for the health care industry, recently announced it has named Nancy Pope Nelson as the company’s new chief executive officer. Nelson succeeds Charles Leonard, who will continue serving on the Solucient Board and as a senior advisor to the Board.
Nelson brings over 20 years of experience as a senior executive in both public and private corporations in the information technology, health care, and financial services industries. Most recently, Nelson served as chief operating officer with Micro General Corporation, a $118 million software and services company in the financial services and real estate market acquired by Fidelity National Information Solutions in July 2002. Prior to this position, she was COO at Quadramed, a $110 million health care software and services company.
Nelson also served in various senior-level positions including COO at Compucare, later acquired by QuadraMed, where her experience included field operations, research and development, support, sales, marketing, product management, finance, customer service, and human resource functions. Nelson was also practice director with First Consulting Group’s Management Consulting Division, where she specialized in quality improvement, management, and managed care IT consulting for health care provider, payer, and employer organizations.
Nelson holds a B.S. in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Irvine and has completed extensive graduate coursework in mathematics and computer science at California State University, Long Beach. She is licensed by the State of California Department of Health Services as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist, and holds national certification with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.
