Vanguard Names Chicago Vice President, Physician Integration and Development Focus

William S. Seliga was named Vice President, Physician Integration and Development for the Chicago Market, announced Rob Martin, Senior Vice President, Operations, National Division, Vanguard Health Systems. In this role he will lead all practice management, physician recruitment, retention and development activities for MacNeal Health Network and Weiss Memorial Hospital..

Seliga brings 25 years of administrative expertise to this expanded role. Since 2001 he has served as Vice President MacNeal Physician Network. Prior to his MacNeal tenure, Seliga served as Senior VP at Holy Cross Hospital. He also directed operational aspects of the Emergency Department, Diagnostic Imaging, Facilities and Cardiology.

Seliga earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Elmhurst College and a Masters of Business Administration from Governors State University.

Swedish Covenant Hospital Welcomes Giannotti to its Medical Staff

Giovanni D. Giannotti, M.D., recently joined the medical staff of Swedish Covenant Hospital, adding his expertise in the area of surgical oncology and general surgery.

Giannotti is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the Society of Surgical Oncology and the Society of Critical Care Medicine. He started his medical career at Creighton University, and then received his general surgical training from Chicago Medical School. He received training in the area of trauma/surgical critical care at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami and surgical oncology schooling at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Giannotti became a member of the Boffa Surgical Group in July 2004.

Pelican Award, Physician of the Year Bestowed

Physicians affiliated with Alexian Brothers Medical Center were honored recently with prestigious awards. The Pelican Award for the Legacy of Caring is bestowed by ABMC on the physician who exemplifies the Spirit, Values and Mission of the Alexian Brothers.

Mohamed Rahman, M.D., specialist in nephrology, was selected as the Pelican Award winner. Dr. Rahman is board-certified in nephrology and completed residencies at St. Luke’s Hospital and Washington University, St. Louis. He completed fellowships at Northwestern University and Case Western Reserve University. He has been in practice for 21 years and has been a member of the medical staff at ABMC for four years.

Michael J. Goodman, M.D., specialist in internal medicine, was selected as the Physician of the Year, an honor bestowed by his peers. Dr. Goodman, board-certified in internal medicine, is a graduate of the University of Illinois School of Medicine, where he completed his residency. He has been a member of the medical staff at ABMC since 1977.
